our history
McHugh Hospitality Group (MHG) was founded in 1986 by John McHugh and Hugh McHugh – A McDonald’s franchisee turned hotelier. MHG developed their first hotel in Tuscola, IL with a 49-room Super 8.
Since these humble beginnings in 1986, MHG has never looked back. Under current President and CEO, John McHugh, MHG has developed, owned and operated 24 hotels across Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Missouri.
Nearly 38 years since inception, with second and third generations continuing to carry on the tradition, MHG continues to develop, own and operate select-service hotels across the Midwest. Now focusing primarily on Hilton and Marriott branded hotels, MHG has never lost sight of what made them successful all those years ago – committing to the best possible guest experience with every stay.
